So far this year, we’ve been trying to get ourselves acquainted with the Vision and Mission of WOW and for the very old members, we are trying to remind ourselves what WOW stands for.
In this post, l shall be pointing out some things we do that can destroy WOW.
Many a times, we’ve had a number of us testified to how this noble group has helped us individually, maritally, emotionally and the likes. Our members shared at different times how this group has opened them up to learning better ways of handling life’s issues. For many of us, this group has been helping us relax from life’s challenges.
You may begin to wonder why I’m citing all those instances above; I’m trying to make us understand the reasons the group must remain sane in order for us to keep enjoying this family.
Things we need to avoid to prevent the group from going into extinction.
- Stop trying to play the passive member card: We understand how busy life is, especially for a married woman. But then, we can’t afford to have members who keep enjoying the meaningful contribution of others and won’t say a word but keeps following silently
- Stop believing the group is meant for some set of people: On this platform, no one is inferior. We need to have a healthy self-esteem that would help us to know this sweet truth. For instance, the fact that you greet and only few people respond do not mean you aren’t rated. It could be that people are not really online at that moment or many messages are coming in at the same time and such message might easily be overlooked. Therefore, if you need answer to a pestering issue on your mind, you might need to re-post more than once in order to make it more visible till you get a satisfying opinion.
- Broadcast is highly prohibited except permission is taken from the admins to post them: Now, you see this particular point is very important. This is one of the reasons most of us don’t rate many of the other groups we belong to. Too many unverified broadcasts posted in those groups thereby making the group tiresome to follow up. We don’t want to end up that way.
- Meeting up members of the group for financial assistance without notifying the Admins: Please, let’s be very clear on this. You know when it comes to money matter, friends of donkey years can even turn foes. Except you’ve known a member prior to her joining WOW group. No one is encouraged to private chat another member soliciting for financial assistance without notifying the Admins in person of Kemi Adebumiti and Bola Bello.
- Unhealthy gist of the group: Talking about what’s happening on the group to your friend(s) outside WOW group is derogatory in itself and it’s capable of making members feel unsafe and vulnerable here. So, please don’t engage in this act.
- Courtesy for all: We understand that as far as we are human, we can’t always agree on some opinions, but we don’t encourage members to talk down a fellow member while you are trying to air your own opinion on an issue. Please, let’s treat each other with respect.
In conclusion, WOW will always be home for all but we need to keep playing our part to make it so. You play your part better by taking notes of the points above and try your best to desist from any wrong doings. Thank you for reading.
Questions and Answers
Question 1
In a case whereby I’m just quoting a situation that happened in WOW to a friend outside WOW. The person does not know anyone in WOW. Can that be termed as Gossip or taking WOW talks outside? Or I’m just asking my hubby what he feels about a situation that happened in WOW, can that destroy WOW?
Answer
It might not really destroy WOW but when you go into details and even as far as mentioning names of those involved. Most of us here discuss some issues we see here with our husbands, that’s how most of our men even get used to remembering this group but then, try to keep members identify safe. Gossip starts where we fail to recognize the thin line between innocently relaying information to people outside WOW and actually gossiping. So, as much as possible, let’s avoid that thin line.
