Last week, the founder of WOW took us on Remembering WOW’s mission and she asked some questions in the course of her lecture:
‘Are we in the center of our mission?’
‘What are we doing to stay true to the mission?’
She said some true points that we all need to come to terms with. we can refresh our memories here.
That,
- ‘If the only time you’re waiting to learn in WOW is during lectures, then you’re missing so much. Every single program or even gist comes with lessons.’
- ‘Every idea is gendered towards our mission, directly or indirectly. Every of our programs find ways to connect to our mission.’
- ‘Taking up lessons taught and letting them change you is how you stay true to the mission.’
With these I welcome everyone to today’s lecture. My mission is to get us familiar with the programs that make WOW what it is today, their importance to WOW’s mission and their respective coordinators.
The first program I will be talking about is the Wedding Anniversary Cool Seat (WACS)
Wedding Anniversary Cool Seat (WACS) is an honorable seat where we celebrate our wedding anniversaries. The program is called ‘Cool Seat’ because the celebrant would be asked questions about how she met her spouse, how it was, how it’s going and how she wants it to be. It’s nothing to worry or be anxious about because the team is always working behind the scene to make it cool as the name implies.
How is the guest picked?
It’s simple. The WACS team have a database of all members of WOW and so they check your date, even if you forget to celebrate or deliberately did not celebrate it on the group, they send you a message to pick a date within a time frame for your session. So, basically your cool seat comes in your anniversary month.
It’s an hour session. It usually starts by 8pm WAT except if the guest reschedules which must have been communicated to the general house beforehand. It’s pretty short but beautiful and inspiring. Although, if you have a beautiful story, you can continue after the session, I trust WOW, we enjoy love stories and we won’t hesitate to let you share.
What is expected of you is to just be available and proactive. Your activeness will determine if your session will be a boring or memorable one. And you’ll be asked to send a picture of you and your husband together to be used as the Group’s display picture for 24 hours.
We can’t force you to celebrate your wedding anniversary and your wins but we would love to celebrate with you and thank God on your behalf as Marriage is a beautiful thing and it’s worth celebrating. So, because of this, the WACS team awards every member a Certificate of Achievement on their Cool Seat Session.
Spouse Appreciation Day is also a program organized by the WACS committee.
This program, as the name implies, is a day set apart strictly to appreciate our spouses. If not for our respective husbands, we all will not be in WOW in the first place. And for being the wonderful figure in our lives, we cannot but appreciate them in our little but impactful ways.
The WACS team gives us template beforehand on the modalities of the program and the program comes up once in a quarter. Precisely, it comes up on 1st Saturdays of March, June, September and December. Testimonies have been following previous editions and so we all should look forward to future editions of this impactful and positively modifying program.
WACS team members are:
Adedoyin Falade (Team Lead)
Kehinde Adelami
Kemi Adebumiti
Afolakemi Adekunle
Sinmiloluwa Oluyemi.
Next is Program is FOW
Face of WOW or Face of the Week also popularly known as FOW is a weekly program that comes up every Sunday by 8pm WAT for the purpose of knowing ourselves beyond just our WhatsApp names and our comments on the group. One of the team members is chosen to coordinate or anchor the program by preparing and asking our guest some questions. After the program, the picture of the FOW guest is used as the Group’s display picture for the entire week. Though sometimes in the course of the week, the picture could be changed if there is any cool seat for 24 hours after which the display picture reverts to the Face of the week. The name ‘Face of WOW’ was coined from the fact that the FOW guest’s picture will be used as the group’s display picture for a whole week.
FOW usually contact the chosen guest days before Sunday to gain her consent and intimate her about what is expected of her on the main day. If the person contacted will not be available, then, there is still enough time to contact another person.
The guest for a particular week is being picked from a roaster that has been previously prepared by the team from the list of WOW members. A member of the team contacts the prospective guest to know her availability and to make her prepare her profile before the D-day. Another member of the team anchors the session on the D-day and we can say for a fact that FOW time has been fun cum learning times.
For some of us who always mistaken WACS for FOW and vice versa, now you know the difference. Thank you.
FOW team members are:
Blessing Adejumo (Team Lead)
Adebola Bello
Jumoke Ekundayo
Opeyemi Odunuga
Mary Okoli
Adejumoke Banwo
Toyin Ogunbameru
Kemi Daramola
Next program is Prayer
As we all know that prayer is the key, we can’t run successfully without prayers. We need prayers for all aspects of our lives minus none. And that’s why prayer team is available for this purpose.
The Prayer department holds prayer session at the start of a quarter (usually the mid Saturday of the month starting a quarter). We had the one for the 1st quarter on January 15th and we can all testify that it was a glorious time in God’s presence. The next one would be in April by God’s grace and if Christ delays His coming.
I will love to add this though, if you have any urgent prayer requests and it’s not within the official prayer meeting period, you can always reach out to the lead prayer coordinator and she would do the needful.
The leading of the prayers on prayer days is not strictly for the prayer coordinators but for anyone amongst us as the prayer coordinators chooses. So, if you are to lead prayer, the coordinators must have informed you beforehand in order for you to prepare.
It’s usually for four hours between 10am and 2pm WAT.
The team members are:
Damilola Oduntan (Team Lead)
Adeleye Olasumbo
Gift Babalola
Bolanle Odunayo
Olubunmi Adetiloye
It’s time to talk about the two times award winner of The Most Innovative Program (2020 and 2021). You’ll agree with me that the cap fits this team well.
Lecture program
Lecture team is the one in charge of organization of our lectures. They in collaboration with Admin come up with the lecture theme, lectures topics with their respective lecturers. They are also charged with the responsibility of following up on the lecturers to make sure they are reminded of their dates and if for any reason a lecturer will not be available, it must have gotten to their notice.
We have a separate closed room for lectures. The lecture team is the one in charge of making sure the Lecture WhatsApp group is opened as and when due for lecture and closed when lecture finishes. The lecture team also note questions, concerns or striking quotes raised in the course of the lecture for further discussion when everyone gets back to the main group.
The team members are:
Yemisi Soyinka (Team Lead)
Kemi Adebumiti
Tomilola Ogunbona
Temilade Oladipo
Now, aside these major programs, we have the Welfare unit and the Editorial/Website Management unit.
The welfare unit members are charged with the responsibility of checking on members. You must have come across any of them in your inbox asking after your welfare. Now, it’s not a reason for you to take the back seat and feel entitled to being checked upon. Help the welfare team too by staying active.
The team members are:
Catherine Fadoju
Oyenike Olowoyeye
The Editorial/Website management unit is the unit charged with the duty of picking our lectures, editing it, fine tuning it to make it a blog worthy before posting it on the website. We can check our content on www.worthyqueens-com.us.stackstaging.com
The team members are:
Kemi Daramola
Yemisi Adedoja
We have our wonderful Administrators, in person of Kemi Adebumiti and Adebola Bello. They are charged with the duty of the day to day running of the group, making sure everything is done in order and within the framework of the mission.
1 Corinthians 14:40 says ‘Let all things be done decently and in order.’
We pray that, may God continue to grant them wisdom in discharging their administrative duties. May they not fall, fail or falter in Jesus’ name. The grace for them to make right decisions, the Holy Spirit will bestow upon them in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Note that, making yourself available for programs is a way of encouraging the coordinators. It’s not easy on the coordinators’ part because they have to sacrifice so many things to make sure program holds.
Also, when you make yourself available and you participate, you begin to impress yourself in our hearts as someone that has values and full of virtues worth emulating. I for one do study people’s line of thoughts and can easily link anyone to a particular thing she said at a particular point in time.
If you can successfully attend programs consistently, you would be able to pass the ‘cut off mark’ for removal. Your consistency will make people miss you if for whatever reason you’re absent at a particular time for any of the programs because it’s usually unlike you to miss programs. You begin to see people tagging you to know if you are fine. I’m a living testimony of this.
In conclusion
Anything that affects you as a woman affects your marriage. You being on WOW is part of you being social. Anything you pick in your social journey will either affect you positively or negatively because “A socially stable woman is a socially stable wife and by extension a socially stable mom”
That is why these programs are put in place in connection with WOW’s mission; ‘Building women as home makers’ to shape you into a whole woman, wife and mother. Your breakthrough in marriage can come during a WACS, FOW, prayer or lecture program or even the simple task of appreciating your husband. You will be doing yourself a whole lot of good when you actively participate in these programs. God bless you.
