The Helpmeet series continued with the review of a Message titled ‘Woman, why sit there and die?’ It was delivered by Reverend Mrs. Funke Felix-Adejumo at a program in Kenya on 7th August, 2018. You can check the Message out on Youtube.
Reverend Mrs. Funke Felix-Adejumo mentioned some vital things we need to take note of.
1) Praise your husband. Show him verbal and physical love.
2) No woman is a biological error. There is a reason you’re created as a woman.
3) Don’t be proud but be in your own class.
4) Change & improve your sex life.
5) Know your weakness & be a great wife.
6) Prayer without ceasing. You can pray while breastfeeding your baby, pray & speak positively to him/her. Be Intentional about raising your children.
She further explained the ministries of a woman.
- Be submissive to your husband
She mentioned that the kind of Submission she was referring to is not the slavery kind of submission but the one of Ephesians 5:21. She said the true definition of submission is strength put under control. As a heavy duty and value added woman, you should allow your husband be in charge by honoring him. You must be willing to follow your husband wherever he goes. Adam was chased out of the garden of Eden and Eve followed him. Ruth followed Naomi and even declared Naomi’s people as her people. Reverend Mrs. also made reference as to why a wife must bear her husband’s name from the Bible (Genesis 5:2).
- Define your relationship as a wife and mother-in-law.
You must be a good wife and daughter in-law to your mother-in-law because one day you will become one. What you have sown is what you will reap.
- Encourage, pray & share your experiences with others.
Some people are placed in your life to help you know when to call God. A woman must be a prayer warrior. Pray about everything. Set alarms to pray during the day no matter your schedules.
- Support your spouse
Every woman must be economically empowered. Don’t be a full-time house wife. Do all you can to support your husband in all areas; spiritually, physically, emotionally etc.
Reverend Mrs. Funke Adejumo recounted her encounter with God. God told her He was going to kill her because she wasn’t allowing His servant (her husband) carry out his ministry, and that she won’t be missed after her demise. She came to her senses after this encounter and started giving her husband peace of mind and support in the ministry. She even vowed to God that, if her husband isn’t doing well with the ministry, God should hold her responsible.
Relating with this encounter, whatever your husband plans doing, your duty as a woman is to prayerfully support him. Be it ministry, politics, career etc.
In conclusion, we need to be sure of our own calling too. Have a personal relationship with God so that you will know His plan for you.

As a mother, pray for your children. Our Breasts and Womb are two important instruments we can use to pray for them. Don’t compare your children, instead create time for them.
Love them, know them, pray for them and train them.
As a wife, honor your husband. No one is perfect, not even the best of pastors. So, learn to forgive and cover your husband. Marriage is hard work. Learn to work it out.
As a woman, don’t feel inferior to anyone even your husband. You are not an afterthought or mistake as a woman, you are in the original plan of God. Carry yourself high but don’t be proud, honor people but don’t worship them.
She said the Biblical definition of submission is strength put under control.
She mentioned some Bible character as case study: Naomi, Ruth, Oprah, Elimelech, Mahlon, Chilion, Boaz, Adam etc.
Ruth- Stayed with her mother-in-law and she reaped the fruit.
Naomi- Refused to continue to stay in a strange land but retraced her steps back to the covenant land.
Oprah- She left her mother-in-law which is actually Biblical but it paved way for Ruth.
Elimelech – left his place of covering because of famine.
Also, there is Biblical standard for wives taking their husbands’ names in Genesis 5:2. We are to constantly pray for our husbands because when a man misses it, the wife and even children share in the suffering.

I learnt that, while breastfeeding, I should use that time to say productive words to my kids.
As a wife, I should learn to forgive my mother-in-law in advance because I will have daughter-in-law in future. It is what I sow, I will reap.
I learnt that as women, there are two major channels in our body through which we can pray for our kids. We should set aside time during the day to speak positive words to our kids, family and everything related to us.
Reverend Mrs. said she sets alarm about 5 times in a day to pray for her endeavors.
Also, there are some people I need to cut off from in order to get the best from God.
She has positive confessions for each of her children. We can emulate this, because positive confessions are good.
Lastly, as a wife, my hands should be busy. She said, “there’s no amount of money that my husband will give me that will meet my needs”. Don’t be the kind of wife that waits for her husband to come back before she can cook food.
Contribution 3
There’s only one Boaz waiting in Bethlehem, if Oprah had stayed back, there might be troubles and Naomi might have to let Oprah have Boaz because she happened to be the wife of the eldest son.
Also, as a woman, we should pray that our husbands stay in place so we can fall in the right place. If they don’t, we’ll also fall out of place.
Even though we have found our own ‘Boaz’ (husbands), we can still relate this with our other life matters. For example, travelling, working etc. We can’t be lazy as women.
Ruth is phenomenal and a good example for godly women. She was prepared. She was well positioned too. She was at the right place at the right time.

Lessons I learnt in the message are:
- Love and value yourself
- Honor people but worship God.
- Submit to your husband.
- Have something doing, even if you are a full house wife, work from home.
- Pray for your children: your breasts and womb are powerful instruments in prayers.
