Marriage Conflict Agreement

Conflict is a normal part of marriage, it doesn’t mean something is wrong. What matters is how conflict is handled.

Your task is to sit with your husband at a calm time (not during an argument) and have an honest conversation about how you both want disagreements to be managed.

Ask him how he prefers you to express displeasure, and share how you would like him to do the same.

One easy way to create your rules is to talk about what each of you dislikes about how conflict is currently handled, and what you would rather the other person do instead. From these conversations, your rules will naturally form.

Together, agree on clear guidelines that will guide your actions when emotions rise. For example:
* We can be angry, but we remain respectful
* We avoid arguing in front of the children

* We have sex after misunderstanding
* We keep our voices down
* No malice or silent treatment
* We don’t sleep over unresolved issues

Write your agreed rules down and print or keep them somewhere accessible so you can both refer to them when needed.

Clicking “Done” means you have agreed on a Conflict Resolution plan with your husband and you have it documented.
