Gentle Responses, No Rejection

Your task here is to avoid saying No.

Sometimes you may genuinely be tired, unwell, or emotionally unavailable and that’s okay. What matters is how you communicate it. A flat “no” can feel like rejection, even when that isn’t your intention.

Instead, practice non-dismissive responses that acknowledge desire while expressing your reality. For example:
“I’m really tired tonight, can we plan for tomorrow?”
“I have a headache right now, but I’d love us to reconnect later.”
“Not right now, but can we choose a time that works for us?”

Always pair a decline with a clear alternative, and be intentional about keeping that promise. This reassures your husband that desire and interest are still present, even when timing isn’t.

Clicking “Done” here means:

1. You consciously avoided a dismissive response at least once

2. You offered an alternative.

3. You followed through on your promise.
