Practice using “Delay Language” to help you handle matters like the Queen that you are. But also avoid sounding rude or appearing like you’re dodging the conversation.
Say: “Can we pause this conversation and come back to it later?”
Don’t say: “I’m not talking about this again!”
Say: “I need a moment to think so I can respond wisely.”
Don’t say: “I don’t have time for this!”
Say: “Can we talk about this when we’re both calmer.”
Don’t say: “You’re always doing this, I’m tired!”
Say: “I hear you, I just need some time to process this.”
Don’t say: “You’re not making any sense!”
Say: “Give me a few minutes to think.”
Don’t say: “Do whatever you like.”
